I have worked very successfully with Purple Forge to develop two different apps that each presented some tough challenges on Blackberry, Android and Apple platforms. The first, for an international conference, started with a three-week turnaround in four languages. I still carry it to show people what can be accomplished: maps, detailed programmes, personalization, reminders, links to Facebook and Twitter – not to mention where to get a tailor, a hair cut or an emergency dentist after hours. The second app was developed for The Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre and Veterans Affairs Canada in 2013. It continues to draw veterans, members of the military and law enforcement who are dealing with Operational Stress Injuries (OSIs) such as PTSD, substance abuse, depression and anxiety looking for support, answers and research discreetly on their phones and other devices. OSI Connect/Connexion TSO is a one-of-a-kind app in North America – rich in materials including video, GPS directions to Canadian clinics and direct emergency hotline links that can be shared through personal Facebook and Twitter accounts. The tight timelines, the demands for creativity and functionality and the fine details are all met with calm and professionalism at Purple Forge – and all at a reasonable cost. I would do it again tomorrow.
