iPhone users dominate when it comes to municipal app downloads

Looking at apps we have done on both Android and iPhone platforms, we consistently find that iPhone users download apps 2 times more often (usually 3 times or more) then Android users.

This is signficiant since it goes against the stats which indicate that Android phones have a higher user penetration.

In Canada for example, a December 2013 ComScore report puts smartphone penetration in Canada at 49%, with 37% of smartphones being iPhone and 44% being Android.

One of our Canadian municipality apps, which has been deployed for more then three years in Canada, has a ratio of iPhone to Android downloads of  2.5:1, with an estimated penetration of municipal iPhone users of 48% and Android users of 16%.
